Higher Education Physics Education Enters the Digital Era: Successful Holding of the Ministry of Education's Virtual Teaching and Research Office Construction Promotion Meeting for University College Physics

On August 27, 2023, the highly anticipated "Ministry of Education's Virtual Teaching and Research Office Construction Promotion Meeting for University Physics Course Group" was successfully held, hosted by the Teacher Training Base of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and organized by the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering at Jiangsu University.

This grand event brought together many experts from the Teacher Training Base of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, including Professor Wang Qing, the Director of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education from Tsinghua University, Professor Shi Jianqing, the Vice Director of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education from Zhejiang University of Technology, Professor Wei Bin, the Secretary-General of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education from Tsinghua University, Professor Li Jinbin, the Secretary-General of the Liberal Arts Physics Working Committee of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Miao Keke, the Vice Director of the East China Regional Working Committee of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Chen Yuanping, a member of the Curriculum Ideological and Political Work Committee of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and the Dean of the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering at Jiangsu University, as well as physics course leaders, core teachers from four universities including Jiangsu University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Shanghai Institute of Technology, and the Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Branch of Chaoxing Group, Wu Shanchao. The conference was also broadcast live via Tencent Meeting, bringing together participants from all over the country to discuss the prospects of digital physics education and the follow-up construction work.


The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China explicitly incorporates digital education into the country's overall development plan, calling for the in-depth implementation of the digital education strategic action to support and lead the modernization of education in China. The purpose of this conference is to actively respond to the national digital education strategy, promote the high-quality development of higher education, facilitate in-depth communication and close cooperation among colleagues in the field of physics, and promote the deepening construction of the Ministry of Education's Virtual Teaching and Research Office for University Physics Course Group.


The conference agenda was rich and diverse. Representatives from the four universities first presented their respective work reports, sharing their experiences and progress in the construction of virtual teaching and research offices.

Following this, Professor Wang Qing, the Director of the University Physics Course Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, provided guidance on the construction, offering valuable insights and expanding the ideas and directions for the high-quality construction of the virtual teaching and research office. Subsequently, Miao Keke, the President of the Physics Branch of Higher Education Press, delivered a wonderful presentation on the application of the cosmic classroom, digital textbooks, and knowledge map.

After the splendid presentations, the attending teachers actively interacted and exchanged experiences, sharing their insights and raising questions. The enthusiastic responses from the experts received rounds of applause from the teachers.
